Dear Conference Attendees:

Monday's arrivals for the Tour of Cal State University, San Bernardino, need to consider the following options:

  1. If you are driving to CSUSB, stop at the Kiosk as you enter the campus. The Kiosk Attendant will give you a parking pass and directions to DET/CHE parking (Parking Lot B). Look for the "DET/CHE" signs to assist you in finding your way. If you plan to park your car at CSUSB, please inform Bob Romanelli or Vanessa Kragenbrink (Susan Cooper's assistant) no later than November 21, so we can give your name to the Kiosk Attendants who will be expecting you.
  2. If you are arriving by airplane, you may board one of the three CSUSB vans that Susan has reserved to take attendees from the Ontario Airport to the CSUSB campus. Board the vans at the SouthWest and Delta Airlines gates at these times: 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 11:45 a.m.. (Super Shuttle, and other services, can be used if you miss the vans. See the Conference Web site for full details on the shuttle services available at Ontario Airport.)
  3. Monday's CSUSB Tour begins in the Yasuda Center, next to Parking Lot B. Signs will be posted to help you find your way to the Tour site. (Name tags and folders will be distributed at Yasuda, and a break will be provided with light refreshments during tours.) The preliminary schedule of the Tour is as follows:
  4. 1:00-1:15 Arrive at CSU, San Bernardino, and store luggage (if necessary)
1:15-1:30 Welcome by President Karnig and Vice President Aguilar
    1:30-1:50 Tour of Yasuda Center
1:50-5:10 Campus Tour (Break into three groups)
5:10-5:30 Collect luggage and return to Parking Lot B
5:30     Depart CSUSB for Lake Arrowhead

  5. If you are bringing your own car, you may lock your luggage in your car during the tour. After the tour, you will return to the DET/CHE parking area to board the bus that will take us all to Lake Arrowhead. Cars with parking passes may remain in this area until the Conference is over.
  6. If you are flying into Ontario Airport and taking a CSUSB van or a shuttle service to CSUSB, you may leave your luggage in one of the three locked CSUSB vans, or take it with you to the Yasuda Center, where it can be stored in a secure room during the afternoon Tour.

Again, please let us know if you plan to park your car at CSUSB. It is to your advantage for us to give your name to the CSUSB Kiosk Attendants by November 21 so Parking Services may arrange for your temporary parking pass.
  7. Finally, you may download a copy of the CSUSB campus map from their Web site. Also, you may download a copy of your own travel route from MapQuest. Just click on TripQuest and then type in your starting point and your destination point in their electronic form. ("City to City" is a preferred option.) TripQuest will compute your route!
  8. After the Conference, Sign-up Sheets will be posted at the UCLA Center to help you get back down the hill from Lake Arrowhead to Ontario Airport and home. (Check with Bob Romanelli and Susan Corum at the Registration Table.)

News Flash! A Note from Susan Cooper (11-24-97):

"For those who will be coming down the hill on Thursday afternoon my department will have two vans available at noon for the community college and private college members. These vans will go down the hill to the campus to allow pickup of cars and/or out to the Ontario Airport.

"At approx 4:00 we will have two vans plus my Pathfinder which can do the same thing. So let Bob know your needs (down the hill to campus, or down the hill to Ontario) and we will accommodate as many as we can. Above those seats - it's Super Shuttle!" --Susan Cooper

PS: Special thanks to Susan Cooper and Vanessa Kragenbrink (CSUSB) for providing all this additional information and travel assistance.
