Last Minute Details!
For CCUMC and DET/CHE Conference Attendees
Hello, All!
The conference activities on Saturday and Sunday are on the UCSC campus. We will have shuttle buses leaving from the West Coast Santa Cruz Hotel going to campus every 20 minutes from noon - 5pm on Saturday, Oct. 31. Please go the conference registration desk first to check out the shuttle schedule and to get your badges, proceedings, and registration folders.
For anyone driving into Santa Cruz, parking is available at the Coconut Grove lot at 400 Beach Street for $6.00/day on the weekend. The walk is about 4 minutes to the West Coast Santa Cruz Hotel. The hotel asks that only registered guests use their lot. If you need driving directions to the hotels or campus see the web pages at:
www.ucsc.edu/intro/tour/gethere.html
and

, or contact me directly.
As for weather this time of year, it is in the low 70's during the afternoon but down into the low 50's overnight and early in the morning. I highly recommend wearing layers that you can pull off as the day gets warmer. We are keeping our fingers crossed for nothing but sunshine, but rain is always a possibility so an umbrella is not a bad idea.
On Saturday we will be doing tours of our Media Services units and UCSC is right in the middle of a redwood forest so no suits, high heels, or ties allowed! They clash with the trees and you'll never make it up and down the hills in anything but comfortable shoes. Santa Cruz also has a very informal atmosphere and comfort is always the key at the conference site and at restaurants around town.
We're really forward to seeing everyone at the conference and showing off our beautiful campus. See you in a couple of weeks!
