1:15 pm to 2 pm "Online Education in the New Millennium: Three Instructional Strategies for the Internet"
Cal State Dominguez Hills has developed a model for online courses that integrates three intructional strategies: Internet broadcasting (Rotor System), web pages (Blackboard CourseInfo) and Video on Demand (Callisto's Voyager Media System). Courses are being designed that match the unique properties of each instructional strategy with the specific learning objectives for that week. Warren Ashley will describe the three strategies and discuss the implications for online education.

2:10 pm to 2:55 pm "Zen and the Art of Didactic Delivery in Virtual Learning Communities"
Empirical research on student satisfaction in 10 online Philosophy and Religious Studies classes will be presented, in conjuction with student preference for this alternative delivery method compared to traditional classroom instruction. Qualitative and quantitative research provided rich description of how San Bernardino Valley College students felt about learning online with Dr. Julius J. Jackson, Jr.
